The people of Aston Martin will not be so presumptuous to call their twelve-cylinder as the best in the world. They state this only of its sound qualities. This are subjective sentiments and more difficult to verify. This is concerning a Ford group engine, at which Cosworth already should have helped to develop. The initial development is probably of Porsche. Comparing bore and stroke, then the relationship is significant. However, imagine it is not so easy to transform a V6 into a V12.

Vanquish engine

It is not enough to extend the individual components such as cylinder block, -head and crankshaft, because for example the firing order must be distributed completely new. Also changes the torque conditions of the crankshaft, because the way from the first cylinder up to the power supply to the clutch is more than doubled. And look the again increased level of speed. While the moments are comparable, the capacity increases once more 2.4 fold.

DB7 Vantage engine

BMW has made in the 70's also of a six- a twelve-cylinder. However, it was thought of an inline engine, which considerably simplified the matter.
